They work with patients suffering from orthopedic, cardiorespiratory and neurological impairments in order to help them regain optimal physical function.<\/p>\n<p>The Physiotherapist\u2019s role is to:<\/p>\n<ul class='list-reset-disc'>\n<li>assess the nature, cause and extent of the patient\u2019s functional impairment through tests (joint mobility, strength, endurance, muscle tone, posture, gait, lung capacity, perception, sensation, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>set rehabilitation goals<\/li>\n<li>develop a treatment plan<\/li>\n<li>make recommendations<\/li>\n<li>ensure the application of the appropriate treatment plan, using:\n<ul class='list-reset-disc'>\n<li>strengthening and stretching exercises<\/li>\n<li>manual therapy techniques (massages, traction, handling)<\/li>\n<li>various therapeutic agents (heat, cold, electricity, water, ultrasound)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>follow up to assess progress and adjust treatment if necessary<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Physiotherapy department at Villa Medica includes a team of more than 30 dynamic and capable physiotherapists, rehabilitation therapists and assistants.
