Stay informed – Message from the President and CEO dated November 6, 2020

As you already know we have been juggling outbreaks since October 12, 2020. The situation is improving day by day. Since the 2nd wave, about fifteen customers have contracted COVID in our establishment as well as a very comparable number of employees. Sometimes the outbreak came from employees who contracted it in the community and who worked without knowing they were affected. Sometimes the identified source of contamination is linked to a customer visit. We carefully study each situation.

Although we apply all the recommendations on sanitary measures, our physical environment with multiple rooms and narrow corridors works against us. For this reason, we agreed on November 4, 2020 to restrict family visits even when the outbreaks are behind us. Only caregivers will be able to visit their relative. If you wish to become a caregiver, you must have some form of involvement in the rehabilitation of your loved one and become a caregiver involved in rehabilitation (PAIR).

Your involvement will be agreed with you during a telephone meeting. You will also receive training. As a caregiver, you can get tested for COVID, just like our staff, at the frequency corresponding to the recommendations of our PCI nurse or if you have symptoms. You will also have to keep a record of temperatures and symptoms. It is important to mention that if you accompany your relative during his transfer to Villa Medica, you will have access to the hospital and not to his room. You will have access to his room when the PAIR procedure is completed. For other family members, we will encourage virtual get-togethers using our team of volunteers.

To obtain more information on becoming a PAIR, contact the trajectory manager attached to your loved one’s client program:
